One-Day Meeting Held at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Library to Promote Santali Literature and Ol Chiki Awareness in Santal Pargana Region

Nawadih, Jama | June 14, 2026: A one-day meeting was held at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Library, Nawadih, Jama, to discuss strategies for enriching Santali literature across the Santhal Pargana region. The participants held detailed deliberations on promoting Santali language and literature and strengthening the Ol Chiki Awareness Campaign.

During the meeting, participants emphasized that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 recognizes the importance of regional languages in education, creating new opportunities for the growth and preservation of Santali. They also highlighted the increasing digital presence of the Santali language through Santali Wikipedia, which has emerged as an important platform for preserving and disseminating Santali knowledge and literature in the digital era.

The gathering also focused on motivating young people to actively contribute to the development of Santali literature through writing, research, digitization, and community participation.

On the occasion, noted Santali litterateur Man Chunda Soren Sipahi presented two of his Santali books, Santali Ronod and Importance of Environment, as a token of respect and goodwill to Prof. Dr. Ramu Hembram of the Central University, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, Bolpur.

The meeting was attended by Santali litterateur Chunda Soren Sipahi, Prof. Dr. Ramu Hembram, Abhinandan Murmu, Seven Murmu, Rakesh Murmu, Sushmita Hansda, Priya Murmu, Asha Murmu, Paresh Murmu, Subhash Kisku, Premlal Murmu, Biplab Tudu, Raghunath Hansda, Abhishek Hembram, Anand Hembram, Pintu Hansda, Sachin Hansda, and several students.
